Let It Snow, Let It Snow

It’s only my third day in North Carolina, something very exciting is about to happen — snow. Every time that white stuff flying down the sky, North Carolina shuts down.

The forecast says that there will have 2 to 4 inches snow by tomorrow, and at this moment, there are 293 reported closing and delays tomorrow. Very likely, I don’t have to get out the hotel room tomorrow, just stay in to watch TV.

My hotel room is like an apartment anyway, it even has a kitchen! So yesterday, I went out to shop groceries and came back to the room and cooked myself a salmon dinner.

Since I will be here for two weeks, I might just as well make it home. However, last night, I heard people upstairs walking. That’s a no no. This morning, I went to the front desk to ask for a room on the top floor, so only other people can hear me dancing, not the other way around. My wish was granted.

When I walked into my new room, I was shocked that it’s a two bed room suite with three queen size beds, two TV, a living room, a kitchen, and who knows what else. Why do I need such a freaking huge place by myself? What if there is a ghost?

Actually I am more concerned that I have to heat up the entire place when I only use a small portion of it. Yes, I am very environmentally conscious. Therefore, I went back to the front desk to ask for a smaller room. Unfortunately, they don’t have one on the top floor. So I took the suite, with much guilt.

Tonight, I went back to the restaurant that is named after meãn.

Like every time I eat there, I always go home happy. I am glad that the menu is also constantly evolving. I definitely love this new version of "miso sea bass" compared to two years ago — tender, smooth, tasty, and buttery. The pork belly on the top of fish is a good contrast to the fatty fish, because the fish skin part is even fattier than the pork! Absolutely exquisite!

I was glad to see the executive chef Michael tonight. After my meal, he came out of the kitchen to catch up with me. He even brought me a glass of Sake and a dessert! It should be the other way around: I should buy him a drink for the fantastic artistic work he creates. He told me to come back some other day and he will cook something that is not on the menu. You bet!

Alright, do I need to go to work or not tomorrow morning? I still have not seen a snow flake yet outside the window… I better get some sleep to get over my three hour jet lag…
