Protest Prop. 8

This is supposed to be on November 9. Stupid Spaces can’t make that happen.

What a week has flown by, and I have not blogged a word!

It’s not because I have nothing to say. Rather I have too much to say and not sure where to begin. Plus, I have no time to say it.

I was pretty much working on the streets during the election period in order to reach out the Chinese community to campaign for ""Vote No on 8."

Needless to say, I am disheartened by the narrow defeat. What a shame that California passes a law to discriminate and to promote hate, all in the name of democracy! I am extremely disappointed by the result as well as the "No on 8" campaign. We didn’t do enough to reach out to the minority communities. The exit poll indicates that the "No on 8" campaign missed the targets. Despite our last minute effort to reach out to the Chinese community, it was too little, too late.

Yes, we have a first black president. So what? Obama publicly says that he opposed same sex marriage.

Why are so many people, including our president elect, so afraid of others to have the same equal rights? Would that be a human right violation when a majority’s vote can strip away a minority group people’s right?

On Friday night, I joined thousands and hit the streets to protest Prop 8.

The fight is not over yet. It will continue until we all have equal rights.

Due to the election and the rain, I have not been in the wild hiking recently. I have been to the gym though. When I woke up yesterday morning, the fog was not very heavy around the Golden Gate Bridge. Everything was peaceful. I took a picture before breakfast.

However, by the time I went to swimming, the entire city became a steam room filled with mist.

Today is whole new bright sunny day. There is no more excuse not to go hiking in Marin Headlands. I have not stepped on that land for more than a month.

It was a fantastic hike, even it was a little windy. All the frustration from the election began to evaporate when I was walking on the trail.

Life goes on, and there will be a better tomorrow.

Due to my trip to Asia and the election, I am really behind on my obligation to the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF). But I am confident that I will catch up on screenings soon.

Oh, speaking of Japan, I still need to organize thousand plus photos I took. I need time, desperately.
