No Bailout with My Tax Dollars

Let me see if I get this right.

Bunch financial institutions, especially their executives, raked in huge amount of money running ludicrous business. Now, their business practices get themselves in trouble, so the government wants tax payers to pay $700 billion for these corporations’ failure.

That’s absurd.

How come it never goes other way around? When these corporations make tons of money, why doesn’t the government ask them to help out the tax payers by paying down the huge deficit Bush administration generated? I guess that would be called socialism.

But when these corporations are in trouble, the tax payers need to bail them out? No wonder capitalism is so popular in this nation, especially among the rich and the Republicans.

I have no sympathy to these financial institution losers, and certainly I don’t want my tax dollars go to any of them, nor any war. I wish I had the power to stop this crazy government. Oh, yes, the election is coming up.

Lately, WaMu has been reported to be in the trouble water. I didn’t make them easy. Like many others, I took all of my money out of WaMu on Friday. Not because I am anxious about if they will close the door soon—I don’t have more than $100K at WaMu. I simply found better interest rate next door. To me, it’s business as usual—I just want to take the best interest rate.

Speaking of interest, I just got my latest statement from Bank of America. It shows a $15 as "Annual Balance Rewards Bonus." What? Bank actually voluntarily gives me money without my asking? That never happened before.

I have been swamped by screenings from the Mill Valley Film Festival and the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival. So, I will blog less until I get a break from the films. This seems the only thing I can spare, because no matter how busy I am, I must go hiking in Marin Headlands and cooking for myself and with friends.

On Sunday, four of us headed to Marin Headlands. We had a rocky start. The #76 bus is supposed to come every hour, but the one we were waiting were missing!

Instead of wait for another hour, we took another bus to the bridge first and then we continued our long hike from there.

It was fantastic as always.

I found this piece of rock on the beach. I think it looks like a heart; Shu Xuan thinks it looks like a vagina; and Ricky thinks it looks like a prostate. We never come to an agreement. However, arguing what it looks like already making the hiking more fun and memorable.

I am keep getting calls displaying a number as 000-000-0000 on my phone, at least six times today. I didn’t answer, because I suspect it must be campaign related. Too bad I can’t report them, so I can only ignore them, for now.

One more week, I will be in China!
